Melanie May is an award-winning travel writer, social media consultant and content creator who specialises in creating lifestyle and travel articles and images for numerous clients. She is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and the Irish Food Writers’ Guild. She won the Best Newcomer award at the 2018 Travel Extra Travel Journalist of the Year Awards.
Well, that’s my professional summary. What that really means is…
I advise, devise, write and revise content for a wide range of print publications and digital platforms, including Irish and UK newspapers, international magazines, websites and social media channels.
Should I ever appear on Mastermind, my specialist subjects would be food, wine, travel and motoring. These are the areas in which I have the most experience when it comes to content creation. However, I do enjoy writing and creating content on most topics.
With third-level qualifications in Digital Marketing and 20 years of working on all aspects of websites (I built my first website in 2003), I have an in-depth knowledge of web publishing and digital marketing strategies, including keyword research and SEO. I also understand how these strategies can be used for effective and memorable storytelling.
When it comes to telling your brand’s story, I am a strong, creative writer with a sophisticated yet relatable voice, able to package stories in exciting ways. However, I am always looking for new ways to tell tales.
As for my writing style? I’d call it evocative and engaging, authentic and tinged with humour.
